Learning our 50 States and Capitals

Hey Wanderers!

I’ve been quiet for a little while last month.  We started our homeschool Tutorial and generally adjusted to our new schedule.  We also started our 50 states and capitals thematic unit.  The goal was for the kids to be able to remember all of the states and capitals from memory.  They’ve done a great job!  A friend let me borrow her curriculum called “Trick Geography: USA” by Patty Blackmer.  It was AWESOME!!  Totally did the trick!  Even I can name pretty much all of them now!  I’m not an affiliate of her site, but I dropped a hyperlink into the title so you could go find it yourself.  I can’t recommend it enough.  🙂

To go along with our unit, I created a simple “I Have/Who Has” game for the kids to review the states and capitals.  You can find it on my TeachersPayTeachers store HERE.  It’s a simple print, laminate, and cut out game.  It’s perfect for a small group of kids or one could even do it independently.  I also color-coded the coordinating states and capitals to help younger learners identify the correct cards.

I hope this resource gives your kiddos a new way to learn the 50 states and capitals.  If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the comment section below.  I LOVE reading feedback!

As always…

Happy Wandering!
